8-bit trip

An awesome video everyone should watch. The music reminded me of Mega Man 2.

Toonami - Don't fear failure

I loved watching Toonami back in the day. Tenchi Muyo, Cowboy Beebop, Outlaw Star, DBZ, Gundam Wing...all those shows where great. Reminds me of college in Ohio, long time ago. Things where a lot easier back then.

Wish they'd bring Toonami back...

Dr. Tran - Fruit Hat

I laughed so hard!

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow E3 2009 Trailer

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow E3 2009 Trailer

Shared via AddThis

This is only one of the many reasons I wish I was at E3. It's kinda sad seeing it switch from Kogi Igarashi to Kojima, but it looks like Kojima is going to present a great Castlevania game. I mean come on, they have Patrick Stewart! Anything with Patrick Stewarts smooth voice in it should sell well, in my opinion.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Game Review

I just got done playing the X-Men Origins: Wolverine demo on my Playstation 3, and I thought I would write a review about it. First off, I really enjoyed the demo. It had a lot of meat to it, unlike other demos (cough, cough, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2). The in game cinematics looked good. Thought it was kind of weird how the game started in the not so distant future, but whatever. After watching the first cinematic, then looking at the in-game menu, I started hacking and slashing my way through typical machete wielding, gun totting mercenaries. After a while, I felt like I was playing God of War, which in any way isn't bad. After a while, I come up to a scene where Logan lunges onto a helicopter, pulls the pilot out, and shoves him up into the propeller so just his head gets sliced. I was kind of amazed at that, I didn't think that their would be so much gore in this game, seeing as the movie is PG-13. The game moves on a linear path, which is kind of upsetting. I tried to jump onto a cliff to look around, but couldn't because of an invisible wall. I'm not to crazy about invisible walls, especially if they implement a path finding mechanic, such as feral mode. When you activate feral mode, your vision changes and you see a blue sort of wave pointing you in the direction of the next check point. Why do I need something to point me in the direction of the next checkpoint, if the path is linear to begin with?

A little later I came across a machete wielding man who was on fire, sort of. He kind of had lava skin, so he was a machete wielding lava man...I guess. Anyways, that character is tougher to beat the the regular bad guys, but all I did was lung and hit heavy attack until he died. A little later Logan has to fight his way across a rope bridge with enemies coming at him both ways, and enemies cutting the ropes to the bridge behind him. So, you plow on ahead and the bridge breaks, and Logan holds on to the bridge, and that bridge comes to rest on the face of a cliff. So you begin to wall climb, hacking up at enemies that held on, or grabbing and throwing them off the side of the cliff. After that, you kill some more bad guys, grab a Jeep and send it crashing through a big King Kong like gate, kill some more bad guys, learn about berserk rage orbs, then see a gigantic lava creature come storming through another huge gate, and then the demo ends.

Hmm...maybe I'm bad and writing reviews. Oh well, guess I need to practice my writing skills. I liked the demo, it was fun, but not really original. I guess it's tough to say that because what is original these days. Every new game, or new movie, or new comic book takes various bits from other games, movies, comics or what have you that inspire the creators and writers who make whatever that new thing is. X-Men Origins: Wolverine may feel like God of War, but I don't think I'd want it any other way. That type of fighting mechanic just works. I'll probably rent this game, maybe buy it. If I had to rate it, I'd say a solid B.

If anyone reads this, leave me some comments and tell me what you think.

My feet just got cold...

I think hell itself just froze over. My Mom and I where just texting. What is this world coming too? A couple of weekends ago I talked my sister into upgrading her ancient Motorola Razr to a BlackBerry Storm. Since Verizon was having a buy one, get one free deal on Blackberry's, my Mom got the other Storm that came with the deal. She's wanted a Blackberry for a while, lord knows why. She can't even operate XP or Vista, and she now has a Blackberry Storm. I swear to god, if she buys a mac book, I'm done (she wants one because the commercials are cool...seriously). I tried teaching her some things, but I can't keep my cool long enough to get anything through to her, so I give up. Some guy where she works has a Storm and has been teaching her how to use it. You know what I have to say to that, thank god! More power to you man! Now we'll see how long she uses it until she gives up on it, like the desktop, the laptop, the Wii, and countless other electronics my parents buy. It's kinda nice sometimes actually, because what they don't use sometimes trickles down to me. Now if I can only talk them into buying a 360 Elite...

Speaking of Microsoft, they have a new Elite bundle coming out (should be out now actually). I'm sure you've read about it. They're calling it the Game of the Year bundle. It's an Elite with Halo 3, and Fable 2.

I planned on picking it up this month some how, but think I'll have to wait. Microsoft says that their will be a limited supply of these bundles, so I have to figure out quick how to get $400 for the bundle, and an extra $60 for Left 4 Dead. I've really been wanting to play that game, and with my low end PC, I can't get the PC version. I'd rather play a game like that on console anyways. Just sucks that Valve hates the Playstation 3. Oh well, there are other reasons I want a 360 anyways. The 2 games bundled with it are a couple, streaming Netflix would be nice, and just having the other major console would be nice. I'd like to be well diverse in my gaming.

I picked up Motor Storm: Pacific Rift today. I turned in my Best Buy awards to get it. It was either that, or Killzone 2, but I'm still trying to get through the 6 FPS' I already have. The arcade racer feeling of Motor Storm I think is a nice change from the other racing games I have. I haven't really found anything I don't like about it yet, but after racing through 2 tracks, I found myself wanting to put in Burnout Paradise. I don't really think it has anything to do with Motor Storm, it's just I'm having fun with Burnout. I got my Burnout license a couple of nights ago, and I am 70 wins away from getting my Elite license. I just want to keep playing, unlocking the 15 cars left in the game, and getting enough wins to get that final license. After all that is said and done, it's on to the expansion packs. The cops and robbers expansion just came out yesterday, and Big Surf Island should be coming soon.

I haven't really been playing anything else. I play Little Big Planet, and GH:Metallica sometimes on my PS3, Professor Layton (the first one), and Pokemon Diamond on my DSi, Scott took the Wii, and my PSP hasn't really been touched. Besides playing some games, I've still been looking for a good job, and I've enrolled at my local community college to start my Bachelors in Computer Science up again. We'll see how that goes, more on that later. I have to find a new place to live soon. Moving means I also have to buy a new TV and surround sound system, since Scott will be taking his. Hey, once you have experienced playing games on a 37" LCD with surround sound, you can't go back.

New things, old things

So it's now week 4 of being unemployed. Awesome. Well, at least I'm getting unemployment. Wait, no, I'm not yet. I did call and manage to get through to someone who isn't a computer yesterday and discovered that I had some old claim open, and that's why I wasn't getting paid. So I got that cleared up, but did not get paid today, which I was hoping I would. Here's hoping for Monday.

I beat the new Prince of Persia last week on my PS3. I really liked the game, it had a good story and was sometimes relaxing to play. What I didn't like about the game, where some of the boss battles. Not the whole of the boss battles, some where really interesting, but the quick time button press actions of some of the boss battles ala God of War. Man, did some of those stupid quick time events piss me off. No matter how many times I did them, and memorized the pattern, I could never press the button fast enough. That, or the game was being a jew and just wanted to piss me off. All in all, loved the story, loved the art form, the acrobatics where fun to pull off (when you could get it lined up), and some of the fighting was fun. I wish I could have found more combos threw the game, but mainly stuck with one combo that seamed to work. But now I don't know what to do with the game, it really has no replay value, unless I want to spend $10 for the DLC epilogue. Problem with that is I heard it wasn't that great. You're still fighting the same boss over and over, and the quick time events are even harder, like taking a shotgun to the nut sack vs. a kick to the dick that was in the disc based game. Sorry, but I don't think I'm going to pay $10 for something that is going to frustrate and piss me off. Next up to finish, Dead Space.

Well, hopefully I'll play some Dead Space, if Guitar Hero:Metallica doesn't get in the way. Picked it up right when it came out, been having a lot of fun with it, besides the fact that my GH:WT guitar sucks. Some days it will act up, and some days it won't. When I strum down on the strum bar, it will sometimes register it as 2 strums and screw me up, especially on long notes. I've changed the batteries and re-synced it, but I found that if I strum up it doesn't do it. It's just unnatural for me to strum up, so I have to think about it, and then I miss notes. I was using my GH3 guitar for a little while, but I never like the way that guitar felt, so I stopped using it. The set list in the game is great, but short, and no Iron Maiden. Also, I don't see why they couldn't have put whole albums in the set list vs. just a couple tracks from their albums. I'd love to just have a library of Metallica albums to play through. That would be cool.

I got sick of my HTC Touch Pro, so I upgraded to a Blackberry Curve 8330.
Man, I need to get a better camera. Anyways, I never got what everyone saw in having a Blackberry. I just didn't get it, until I got one. Love it. It's light weight, nice size, nice resolution screen, the keys feel nice to type with, and the Blackberry OS is a lot faster than a Windows Mobile OS. There are some things I miss about not having a Windows OS, but there are also things I don't miss about it. I can't wait until Sprint gets the Blackberry Bold.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Lowell to fix my sisters boyfriends car. Should be fun, busted tie-rod (hopefully outer) on his Cougar. Should be like a mini-vacation. Get me out of Lansing for the night. Then Sunday on to Ionia for Easter Dinner. Should be fun.

I'm going to try for 1 to 2 blogs a week, since I have nothing better to do. I know I've said that before, but I'm gonna try and stick to it.

Maybe it's because of Friday the 13th???

I'm at work right now looking around wondering what I'm going to do with myself after tomorrow. I'm still sick, so I will probably just rest and try and get better. Almost wish I wouldn't have called in sick yesterday and left early on Tuesday because I didn't feel good, but I don't think I could have sat at my desk feeling the way I did. I still feel like crap, light headed and nauseated, but it's not as bad as it was. What a crappy week. Do you want to know why?

Monday, my co-worker and friend Eric and I where called into a conference room with out boss'. I figured something was up. They told us what we pretty much already knew. There's no work anymore in our department, we have to let you guys go since you're contract. It's nothing personal, or it has nothing to do with your work performance, it's just business.

They're letting us finish off the week, which is good, but I've already lost time so it kinda sucks because I can't make it up. So, after Friday I'll be unemployed, filling for unemployment, and looking for a good job. I've been looking on careerbuilder.com, and found a couple of jobs that may be good, but I'm not certain. Figures this would happen after I finally get caught up on all of my bills.

Ok, so besides my crappy week this week, last Friday I went and saw Watchmen at the IMAX with my friends Drew and Kyle. So, to start off, $12.50 is WAY to much money for 1 ticket just to see a movie in a theatre with a huge screen and cramped seating. About an hour into the movie, I had to pee, and I was sitting in the very back row in the very center. I'd say at least 30 pe0ple to a row, so yeah...I stepped on 15 peoples feet just to get out and pee. They didn't like that. The movie was great, until the ending. I don't understand why you stay true to the book for mainly the whole movie, except for the ending, which was the best part of the book. Other than that, I really liked the movie, but still like the book better. The acting was good, the fight scenes where great, and even though it was 2 1/2 hours long, it flowed well together. The sex scene between Night Owl and Silk Spectre was awkward though, more awkward that seeing Dr. Manhattan's wang through the whole movie, but still a very good movie.

Well, that's about it for right now. I'll keep everyone posted about what's going on. Maybe now I'll be able to write about what I'm playing, what anime/manga I'm watching/reading, or what movies I'm watching. I just got Zack and Miri Make a Porno in from Netflix, so that should be fun. I've had The Strangers sitting on my table for about a month. Everyone says I'm going to hate it, but I still want to watch it. Anyways, I'll write some more later.

Yes, I'll have the Street Fighter IV...medium rare if you can

So, I've purchased Street Fighter IV, and I really enjoy playing it. Street Fighter II was one of the first fighting games I ever played. Before my parents bought us a Sega Genisis for christmas, I played it in the arcades where ever I could find one. There weren't any arcades in Ionia, but there was an arcade tent when the fair came to town. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Killer Instinct where there. I always got my ass beat, but still enjoyed throwing down a couple quarters to get some play time in. Now that I have it though, I don't know what to do with it. I've unlocked everyone besides Seth, Gouken, and Akuma...so I have to do that. I'm not really good, so if I go into the ranked matches online I get spanked. I've been doing the trials, but getting into the combo sets in the trials is tough because my fingers aren't quick enough on the old Dualshock 3 controller. I think there lies my problem, I'm using the Dualshock 3 controller instead of a fighting stick. Well, Scott and I went out in Lansing in search of a Madcatz fighting sticks. We stopped by one of the local Gamestops and where basically laughed at when I asked if they had any in stock. The thin, geeky kid with the poofy hair and awkward facial hair laughed and said "God no, those where with reserves only!". Scott and I looked at eachother, and then I said "So, you won't get anymore to sell because they where a reserve special, or you're just out of them at the moment?". I said it with an angry look on my face probably, because his laughter weakened to the voice of a boy just within puberty and replied with "Oh, well yeah, we'll get more in, but we're out now.". Scott and I left, but before I left I told him he should have told me that in the first place instead of laughing at us. So, we went to Best Buy to see if they had any of the cheaper fight pads, but they didn't. Looking at Amazon right now, the standard fighting stick is going for around $118, and the tournament fight stick is going for a whopping $380!!! Guess I should have ordered one when they where $160. Oh well, guess I'll stick it out with the ol Dualshock 3.

I guess another one of my problems is I mainly use Ryu. I've always like Ryu. His fight moves are not complicated at all, and to me, he's the main character. But, I always get my ass handed to me if I pick him in a ranked match. Guess I need to diversify. The one thing I don't like about playing online is that the other person waits for you to pick your character, then chooses a character who's good vs. the character you picked. So, is everyone out there playing Street Fighter IV on PS3 more advanced in the ways of fighting than I am??? I guess so.

Even though I suck at it, I still enjoy playing it. I'm going to try and unlock Seth, which shouldn't be too hard, and then try for Gouken and Akuma...which I doubt I'll ever be able to pull off. Still, I'll play it and enjoy it, and think back to the good old days of SFII on the Genisis.

Oh, and look at what my loving girlfriend bought me for V-day... Ah...32GB's of iPod touch 2nd gen goodness. In return, I'm paying for $250 of it, giving her my old 8GB touch 1st gen, AND buying her some orange laptop bag she wants for V-day. It was either this, or she bought me an X-box 360 pro...but then she wouldn't have gotten my old touch, so we went with this instead.

Well, that's it for now, more later because I've gotten some new PS3 and PSN games, such as Bioshock, Flower (really good!), Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Penny Arcade episode 2 (beaten), and then the add on party pack for Burnout Paradise. I swear, Criterion won't ever have to put another Burnout on a disc because of all the DLC they put out. It seems with every DLC they put out, free or paid, it changes the game. I'm looking forward to the next DLC with the Big Surf Island and the Cops and Robbers play.

Oh, and this girl named Sara has a some pretty cool video game blogs. I've been reading her SFIV blog, so hit the link and subscrive to her blogs and twitter account.

My problem with the world and racism *contains graphic language*

Seriously, if you get offended easily by racial issues, don't read this post. Also, I'm not a racist, people in general piss me off, but it was mostly colored people that pissed me off last night.

So, for Valentines Day, Lily and I planned to go to Grand Rapids, visit the Rivertowns Crossing Mall, eat dinner at Outback, and watch Friday the 13th. For the most part, I enjoyed being with Lily, even if it seemed like I didn't because I was upset or irritated. Well, let me just run through the night and you'll see why I got so irritated.

It started with me finding that I was overdrawn in my checking account. A credit company did an unauthorized withdrawl from my checking account. I filled out dispute papers on Friday when I found out, but it could take up to 10 days to correct, if 5/3 bank sees that it was unauthorized (which they better). Well, because of that, I'm overdrawn in my checking account. So, I called the bank and explained the situation, and I make sure that those fees will get reversed once the dispute is finalized. They will, but in the mean time, I have no money. So, I had to rely on Lily to put gas in my truck and buy us some lunch. So, we begin our journey to Grand Rapids. I booked a room at the Radison, which I thought was somewhat close to the Rivertown Crossings Mall. Turns out, it wasn't. It was on the North end of 131 heading towards Muskeagon. It wasn't too far away from where I wanted to be, but it wasn't what I had in mind and it kind of made me irritated...a little bit. So, after we checked in, we went to see my friend Stephanie who is moving to Florida tomorrow. It was nice seeing her, but we left when her husband got there (awkward story for another time). So, we travel down 42nd (?) street to the Rivertown Crossings Mall. Lily has never been to this mall, so it was a treat for her. Come to find out, apparently Valentines Day is like Black Friday, it was busy as HELL! Maybe Rivertown is always like that, but I don't know. It took us literaly half an hour to find a parking spot. So, that kind of raised my irritation level. Stores where full, there where lines at the food court, and it was hot in there. Lily did some shopping and wowed at the amount of stores that where there. I suggested that maybe we should go to Outback and get in line, because I figured we'd have to wait. Before we did that, we went and bought our movie tickets at the Celebration Theatre in the mall.

Dinner at Outback was great. We didn't have to wait long, and the service was pretty good. I ordered a grilled tilapia with king crab stuffing on top with mushrooms, it was very good. Lily ordered a steak, which was just what she wanted, and then we finished with a piece of carrot cake. After a wonderful dinner, we headed back to the mall to go see Friday the 13th. Again, parking was a little hectic, but not as bad as earlier since it was later in the evening. We got into the theatre and found a good seat up top, which was fairly empty. As time went on, it got pretty busy. *OK, this is where it gets offensive* A group of maybe 8 or 10 black teenagers sat to the left of us, where an aisle seperated us from them. The seats on that side where arranged 2 to a row. To the right of us, another group of black people where sitting, at least 6 of them, and tehy where being fairly quiet. One of the black male teenagers on our left was being very loud, getting up, yelling, and sitting in the aisle because someone wasn't letting him sit in his seat I think. The lights go out and the trailers start showing. The ones that stood out where The Haunting in Conneticut, Transformers 2 (yay!), and The Watchmen (YAY YAY!). As the trailers where rolling, the black teenagers on our left where still being loud. The movie started, and everyone was being quiet and paying attention to the movie, except for the black teenager on our left. He was carrying on conversations with the group he was with. Looking around, everyone was annoyed, including me. As the movie progressed, he kept talking, and the movie got kinda weird. The beginning of the movie had to do with weed, which the black teenagers would whoop and yell whenever one of the characters talked about weed or smoked weed or so much as looked at weed. One of the characters came across a crop of weed, and the one loud black teenager yelled across the theatre to his buddy, who sat on the right of us, and they talked back and forth about wishing they had that weed. At one point, Lily said "shh" in the direction of the black teenager. He turned and replied with, "Don't shush me nigger!". I got up and yelled hey and he turned around and everyone got quiet. I was furious, and so was Lily. To have someone, who's talking through a movie and ruining it for everyone else (so I thought), and then call someone a nigger who tells him to be quiet, is fucking outrageous. For a minute, everyone was quiet, and then he started talking again. But the problem was, so was everyone else at this point. Almost everyone started talking while the movie was playing. Has everyone in the world lost that sense of respect for the people around them?! I looked at Lily and asked her if she wanted to leave and get out money back, she said yes. But after we talked about it, everyone got quiet, and the movie kept going. We sat there, both annoyed and irritated, as the theatre went quiet, then loud with people talking, then quiet again, then loud again. We finished the movie and walked out. I was furious, but Lily had let it go. I did not enjoy the movie because of some black teenagers.

When we got back to the hotel room, I was still irritated. I guess I was more mad at myself that I didn't get up and shut that kid up. I feel like I pussed out, in a way. Some black kid called my girlfriend a nigger, and all I did was yell hey. I should have stepped up and done something about the whole situation, but I didn't.

The other thing that irritates me is the whole racial issue. Because I called him black in my description, and because I have a problem with him, most people would call me a racist. Maybe the reasone no one did anything about him talking through the movie, myself included, is because we where afraid of the racial situation. One white guy surrounded by black people who stand up and tells one of them to shut up would be considered racial profiling, plus I probably would have gotten my ass kicked. But, he can call my girlfriend a nigger and no one would say anything about it. This also has something to do with my problem about why Barrack Obama was elected. This can just be my opinion, but he was elected mainly on the fact that he's black. That, and because Palin is crazy, but mostly because he's black. Everyone talked about him being such a nice black guy and how having a black president is going to change the world. Then, you have black communitites telling the news that they've never voted before, but will now because there is a black man running for office. How is that not racist on their part? They won't vote for a white man, but they'll vote for a black man? How come I don't see the big billboards that have the phrase "He's a very hard working black man" with the black word crossed out in red? Do you remember seeing those types of billboards? Teaching us that there is no difference between white and black people, so that black people can be accepted as equals, is suddently forgotten when something good happens to the black community. Funny, but man, that seems like racism to me.

I really wish I would have stood up and broken that kids jaw last night. Whether he was black, white, purple, yellow...whatever, he was annoying and he called my girlfriend a nigger. We shouldn't live in this kind of world. Hate me if you want, but it seems to me everyone is racist, it's just white people who get punished for it.

I didn't forget...Part Deux!!!

No, I haven't forgotten about my personal blog, I've just been busy and neglectful, which is my lot in life. I feel bad because I want this to be the place to go to for info from me, so I'm going to try harder.

Lately, I've been busy with work (obviously), not working out (which shows!), spending as much time with Lily as I can, watching Supernatural, and playing some new video games! My god, the video games, so many of them! I haven't been able to finish any of them because I've been getting new ones. Here's a list of the one's I'm trying to get through now:

1. Final Fantasy IV (DS)
2. Prince of Persia (PS3)
3. Bioshock (PS3)
4. Assassin's Creed (PS3)
5. Dead Space (PS3)
6. Ninja Town (DS)
7. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core (PSP)
8. Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) (yes...still haven't beat it!)
9. Burnout Paradise w/new Party Pack DLC (PS3)
10. Folklore (PS3) (I've had this one since I got my PS3...but just never got into it until now)
11. Wipeout HD (PSN)
12. Penny Arcade's On The Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2 (PSN)
13. Puzzle Quest (PSN)
14. Guitar Hero World Tour (PS3)
15. Unreal Tournament III (PS3)

Oh, there's more, there's plenty more, but I'm running out of time. Even with all these I'm trying to play right now, that doesn't even take into account for Street Fighter IV coming out next week, and Guitar Hero: Metallica next month!

Speaking of Metallica, I went to the Metallica concert in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena on 1/13/2009. I can say, after that concert was over, I could have died happy. I didn't..die, that is...but I would have been happy. I got to see Metallica in concert! It was f*ing amazing. The Sword came out first, and they where great. The only song I'd ever heard from them was Freya, and that was on either GHII or GHIII. Anyways, they where awesome. Then, Machine Head came out and really got heavy. They where great, I've always liked Machine Head. Then Metallica came out and played at least 15 songs, and only 4 of them where from Death Magnetic. They played the old songs that made them famous. They sounded great, just awesome. James sounded like he did back in the day, everyone played well while running around the stage. It was great. If they come around again, I'll be going.

Hopefully I'll have time to write twice a week, like I wanted to originally. I've been watching a lot of movies lately and would like to talk about them. Plus, I'd like to talk about video games and get some reviews up. Until then, well...I haven't thought of a catchy exit line, so...yeah.

Oh, and one more thing, the tragic death of EGM and the butchering of 1UP was tragic to say the least. More talk of that later.
